Devotional attendence is low but we keep pushing on this January, which is great considering how busy we all are. And one of my friends from school came once! It seems like part of the issue is it's just difficult to get the word out, especially when we plan a meeting on short notice.
Our cluster is also currently in the intensive phase of our new cycle and I'm having trouble doing anything about it. There's no real collective teaching campaign planned yet; each of us is supposed to talk to our friends, family, neighbors, et cetera. It's just difficult to stay motivated to keep on a collective schedule when you're on your own. I'm looking forward to next cycle when we identify a neighborhood on which to focus our efforts and hopefully start to identify teaching teams.
I did make a resolution to talk to all of the classmates whose names I don't yet know (I know, it's pathetic not to know everyone already if there's only 120 of us and we've been in school together for five months.) My plans, however, have been foiled by having most of our lectures cancelled for two days in a row due to the snow and ice crisis in which most of the Midwest is bound.
To conclude, I'll share a funny and irrelevant story pertaining to today's snow day. I've been spending the day at home in my pajamas watching Bones (and of course I'll get around to studying, eventually). Early this morning I was laying on the floor by the space heater when I happened to glance under the bed and notice a suspicious sillhouette. I freaked out and, being too afraid to investigate on my own, called my landlord, my apartment's maintenence hotline and my dad in rapid succession, telling them all there might be a dead mouse under my bed.
Maintenance came, and it turns out it was an extension cord I had placed there myself. Go figure... At least I had some excitement today. Being snowed into your apartment has the potential to be extremely boring unless one finds something to worry about. Hey!
Here's an intensive phase plan I could do now I know my place is mouse free: I could have my friends over tonight to establish ties of friendship on the basis of a shared understanding, as in the Ridvan 2010 letter. Or we could just eat dinner and make cookies. =)
