Tuesday

Beautiful Devotional, Junior Youth Starting

S and N, a hospitable and affectionate couple in Saint Louis, offer regular Tuesday morning devotional gatherings in their home. They always make their home so warm and inviting with their clean kitchen full of dark wood and gleaming marble, the plates of fresh fruit and sliced bagels and other healthy goodies, and their beautiful sitting room graced with antique mouldings, a high tray ceiling, arched windows and comfy furniture. I love to eat with them and then get all cosy and pray and meditate in a small circle in that big, beautiful room and listen to S sing his sister's songs and N share what the writings he has selected mean to her. It's always a special privilege to have time to visit their Tuesday morning devotional.

At S's devotional today I mentioned to the group, including the Cluster Institute Coordinator, J, that I hope to start a junior youth group at Adam's Park Boys and Girls Club. S and N were very enthusiastic and offered assistance in any way they could. In spite of their busy schedules I hope TT and some other youth here can help us out! I also specially requested that the Tuesday morning group offer some prayers for forwarding the plan and emailed my sister, who works in the Baha'i World Center in Israel,  in hopes that she can offer prayers at the shrines on her next visit. This is one except from her that note I'd like to share more widely in order to explain my particular motivations for embarking on this path of service:

"I have no idea what I'm doing and can only rely on prayer, mine and others', to carry me through. I want to do it, though, because it is important for me to build my capacity to serve junior youth as well as children as a pediatrician. This age is a seriously important time for forming the habits of personal care and nutrition that will determine one's future health outcomes; if I want to be an effective physician in the way I envision I can't just ignore junior youth and focus exclusively on children, even though that is my passion."

I hope these motivations and faith and prayer will carry my through in spite of my lack of experience! Plus the support of S, N, J and TT will not fail me, I am sure.

"Love is a wonderful thing." =)
